Free winter coats, boots and snow pants for Newfound-area kids
Operation Warm is a local program that makes sure kids in the Newfound area go into winter with a coat that fits. It is free, and there are two shopping days left this season: Saturday, October 24 and Saturday, November 7, both 9–11 AM, in the basement of the Tapply-Thompson Community Center at 30 North Main Street in Bristol.
The one thing to know first
An application has to go in before the shopping day. You return it to your child’s elementary school or drop it at the TTCC office. That is so they have time to order anything not already on the shelves. The organizers do not post a cut-off date, so if you are reading this close to the 24th it is worth calling rather than assuming you have missed it: (603) 744-2713.
What is available
Coats, boots, snow pants, mittens and hats. TTCC notes that they cannot guarantee boots and snow pants for students in grades 9–12, and that supplies are limited — orders are filled while they last.
Who it serves
Alexandria, Bridgewater, Bristol, Danbury, Groton, Hebron, Hill and New Hampton.
Who runs it
It is a joint effort of the Tapply-Thompson Community Center, Bristol Community Services and the Bristol Fire Department, with help from the Santa Fund of the Greater Lakes Region, and it is partially funded by the Greater Lakes Region Children’s Charitable Fund for Children.
Details and the application
Everything above comes from TTCC’s own page, which has the application form on it: ttccrec.org Operation Warm. TTCC is at 30 North Main Street, Bristol, open 9:00 AM–5:30 PM Monday through Friday, (603) 744-2713, [email protected].
If you would rather help than ask
TTCC takes donations for Operation Warm through the same page; their page asks that you note the gift is for Operation Warm. Their number is above.
